What is Birthday Club Dayton?
Do you have a birthday child who is looking for celebration? Please apply for our birthday club gift program. Three requests will be chosen each month- based on your input as to what we can honor in this child. What have they done for the community? What special efforts have they made in their lives?
When we receive this information, we will choose our candidates, and look so forward to bringing the birthday child to our Toy Cottage for gifts and celebration!
Every child deserves a birthday, and we’re doing what we can to make sure none go without one.
A birthday to a child is a celebration of becoming another year older, and preparations for another fruitful year to come. Unfortunately, to many children in the foster care system, a birthday isn’t always a reality. Many children do not receive gifts, or even well wishes on their birthdays, and many do not even know when their birthday is.
We’ve had private detectives do some pro-bono work to find the birthdays of these children who were missing out on such a crucial part of their identity, and we’ve done our best to try and make sure that every child gets something to unwrap on their special day and a card that lets them know just how important they are; a message that often times, unfortunately, gets lost with some of these kids.
How Birthday Club Started
Established after our first gala in 2006, children currently in the foster care system now receive birthday cards and gifts. For many of the children we work with, this is a first time ever event for them.
How You Can Make a Birthday Special
When you donate to For Love of Children than you provide a birthday for a foster child that may not get a present for their birthday. We also use your donation to help track down birth dates for children who may not know when their birthday even is.
Our team of private investigators help us to determine when a child’s birthday was based on available medical records and once we have a birthday we don’t forget. Every year we send another gift out to the foster children of Dayton and fill out personal cards for each child to receive.
We believe that all children should get a birthday. That is why we started Birthday Club. You wouldn’t want your birthday forgotten and neither do they. Help us give them back a day that should be all about them.
