While communities are facing unprecedented struggles during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dayton Mall takes action by partnering with the following local Non-Profit organizations and others:
- FLOC
- Shoes for the Shoeless
- Crayons to Classrooms
- Centerville City Schools
- House of Bread
- Montgomery Co. Children’s Services
- Humane Society of Greater Dayton
WHAT: Dayton Mall will host a Food Drive and Essential Item Donation Drive 4/3/20 from 11a-6p until further notice.
WHY: Now more than ever, Dayton Mall remains committed to serving Miami Valley residents as a community partner. This is one example of parent company Washington Prime
Following closings of both schools and businesses, many Americans will be turning to food banks and other non-profits for support during this difficult time. Local residents may drop off non-perishable food items as well as essential items (such as diapers, toilet paper, and soap), school supplies and dog and cat food at designated areas within the property to help vulnerable populations during this global health crisis.
WHEN: The Food Drive Donation will be held starting 4/3/20 and held M-Sa 11a-6p until further notice
WHERE: Residents may drop off their donations at Dayton Mall – the entrance between the old Elder Beerman and DSW.
A letter from Dayton Mall to our organization and supporters:
Thanks to Beth Mann and FLOC – and the connections she has set us up with, the Non-Profit Co-Op has been able to help hundreds and hundreds of families in need (probably now we are up to thousands!). From providing food for needy school children to donations of items for hot meals at shelters, the Non-profit has truly helped make a dent in supporting the food challenged residents in the Miami Valley.
Beth has connected us with her media contacts for food drives and provided us with lists of folks who are willing to donate their time sorting and stocking all of the food.
The House of Bread was able to provide meals for an entire week for a summer camp for at-risk youth.
Crayons to Classrooms picked up cartloads of school supplies to help fill the need in their center.
Many families from Children’s Services were given groceries, toys, school supplies, dog & cat food, diapers and personal items.
The Humane Society has had a ton of items we will be donating, including dog & cat food.
This list goes on and on. The Co-Op is so VERY successful that it is being moved to a new, permanent location within the mall, and the Dayton Mall is looking for a sponsor to represent and underwrite this new organization.
I’m totally blown away by the grace and compassion and generosity of the Dayton Community. They continue to fill the donation carts daily!
I’m also convinced that this task would not have taken off, nor have been so successful, without the tireless efforts of Beth Mann. She is the wind beneath our wings. Truly. It’s thanks to FLOC and Beth that we have laid the groundwork for a new concept (the first in the country!) and now will continue to thrive and grow. This is such a blessing, since it is clear the need will never go away.
Most Sincerely – and with complete gratitude,
Karen Kelly Brown
