Hi all!
As we watch the vibrant colors of fall fly all around us, we are reminded of the beauty of the season and what’s to come. Christmas will be here in a heartbeat and we at FLOC, For Love of Children, are hoping to serve thousands of children who would not be able to celebrate without our help. FLOC is actively serving over 6,000 children; children who are neglected, abused, in foster care, or in need of community resources.
Due to COVID, our ability to perform in-person fundraising has been limited and we are in desperate need of funds to continue operations. Would you please consider a monetary donation? Please remember that we are a 100% volunteer-based organization so each and every dollar you give goes directly under a Christmas tree to create joy where there is often so little.
FLOC is a service oriented organization and we are always striving to continue successful programs from the past as well as initiate new programs to meet the evolving needs of our community.
This past year we assembled and distributed over 500 book bags filled with school supplies and gifted them to students who otherwise would have gone without. This is our 15th year running this program, Tools for School, which has served over 7,500 students since its inception.
Food shortage is a very sad and true reality for many of the children we serve. This tragic problem is only getting worse during these uncertain economic times. In order to serve this ongoing need, we have a program called Blessings in a Bag which provides nutritious food to over 330 children each month, discreetly, and with loving care. We have also partnered with St. Vincent’s De Paul and House of Bread, a local food bank, to expand this program to the homeless in our community.
The devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has tragically affected so many in our community. At FLOC, we have worked to identify families who were especially hard hit in order to offer love and support. One such family suffered unimaginable heartbreak when their 15 year-old son passed away from COVID last year. Through the generous support of our donors, FLOC was able to provide burial attire and worked with a wonderful funeral home that agreed to waive funeral and burial expenses. Yesterday, his brother came into our FLOC Boutique and was decked out with formal wear for his upcoming homecoming.
These are just a few of thousands upon thousands of stories about how your donations make a very real impact in the lives of so many.
We are so honored and humbled in our ongoing work. It is just overwhelming to know you can create magic in a difficult life, and we get to do that each and every day! If you would be so kind, please help us in caring for our little ones. With your generosity, Santa will be coming soon!
