For Love of Children’s largest event of the year has come to a close once again. FLOC’s Christmas for Kids program serves underprivileged youth in the Dayton area through the Montgomery County Child Services and some of the local schools in the area. This year the schools served were; City Day, DECA and Emerson. After the completion of the events, we served over 500 families and over 1,000 kids!
This year I had the privilege of working with some of the families on the last day of Christmas for Kids. These families were so gracious and honored that we would donate these gifts and our time to them and overwhelmed with joy and support for our organization. Being able to see the true impact of the efforts of FLOC through this event and its volunteers was truly amazing. Walking through the toy cottage and seeing all the toys, clothes and puzzles that each family gets to choose for their loved ones, is one of the most influential aspects of being a part of this organization.
A nonprofits’ mission is only as good as those who they serve, and the individuals that I had the pleasure of meeting, were truly appreciative and had been supportive of this organization for a long time. Overall, this Christmas season was very successful and full of cheer for those children who were able to receive these amazing gifts.
