FLOC would like to share the following story with our community. It is one of hope, generosity and the kind of heart that is home grown.
George Wayne Chamberlain was born on Christmas Day in 1927, and passed away Saturday, September 4th of this year.
George’s mother died when he was 3 and his father passed away when he was 13. Following the deaths of both his parents, he was sent to an orphanage where he lived in a very cold and sterile environment. He received one gift on Christmas, and one on his birthday. So on the date of his birth, he received two gifts. That was it.
When George grew up, he vowed to make the holidays special for children living in poverty in our area. He would accompany Santa each and every year, delivering toys, food and clothing to be opened on Christmas morning.
Kim Riley and Brad Chamberlain are George’s children. In his honor, they requested that all donations be made to FLOC and our Christmas for Kids Program. They will take care of hundreds of children with these incoming donations.
George would be so proud. Thank you to George Wayne Chamberlain, also known as Santa George, and to his dear family.
